The article presents the results of retrospective assessment and prolonged monitoring of the state of health, physical and mental development of children with extremely low and very low body weights. It describes the health abnormalities' structure, possible outcomes of a neurologic pathology, experience of realization and the results of multidisciplinary follow-up of children during the first to year of their life in pediatric practice conditions.

Rational and proper breast feeding of premature children at all stages of their nursing is possible only if there is a physiologically grounded knowledge about functioning of the gastrointestinal tract of a premature child and his or her needs in nutrients and energy. The article presents the modern opportunities for solving of this problem and the differentiated approach to feeding of premature children, taking into account their maturation degree, age and the accompanying pathology.

The article considers the problems of the adaptation of mothers to a situation when they stay with their premature newborn children in a hospital that are determined by an individual correlation of such factors as activity and flexibility and also psychoemotional state parameters. The article considers the problem of the diagnostics of psychical activity of premature infants born with very low and extremely low body weights, presents the technology of psycho-pedagogical examination in pediatric practice conditions that allows assessment of the functional capabilities of analyzers and the psychical activity of immature infants. The examination procedure and its results are described in detail. Conclusions are given in the form of recommendations on realization of an individual pedagogical work.

The article provides information on a qualitative specificity of psychics formation in children during the first year of life and the mechanisms and factors determining and influencing this process. Natural sequence of the development of central psychological age-related achievements in children and the possibility of their occurrence in the later ontogenesis are retraced and demonstrated. Prolonged observation of the dynamics of children's psychical development established that, within the first 12 months, mental development of children can occur in one of 4 variants: normal, delayed, slow, or very slow.

Organization and results of early special correctional and pedagogical accompaniment of a child with severe combined development aberrations

Using a medical case example, the article describes a sequence of the complex rehabilitation program in a hospital where children with severe CNS damages are treated. The content and organization of the pedagogical work at the each rehabilitation stage are described. The author demonstrates the dynamics in mental development of a child with a severe combined neurologic pathology, compares it with the change in the child's neurologic and somatic state.
