Preservation of the efficiency of the cochlear implant and the continuity of rehabilitation in the event of the consequences of a traumatic impact

Fedoseev V. , Mileshina N. , Kurbatova E. , Osipenkov S.
The reasons, mechanism and consequences of various external influences on the location of the implanted part of the cochlear implant and adjacent parts of the patient's head, early signs of their appearance are presented. As well as prevention and treatment of such patients in order to maintain the performance of the cochlear implant and the continuity of the rehabilitation process. Aim of the study: improving the efficiency of rehabilitation of patients with cochlear implants. Materials and methods: analysis of the condition of 3347 patients after cochlear implantation in the long-term postoperative period. Results and discussion: among other reasons, rehabilitation can be interrupted due to a malfunction of the implanted part of the device or a critical change in the state of tissues at the site of its location. Timely detection of the first signs of local changes and the organization of adequate medical care allows you to maintain a working implant and continue the rehabilitation process. Prevention of such changes is directly related to the prevention of tissue injury in the area of the cochlear implant and adherence to the recommended conditions for operating of a cochlear implant. Conclusion: the introduction and use of an algorithm for helping patients with cochlear implants, depending on local changes, is available for specialists not only in the medical field; an algorithm will increase the quality and stability of the rehabilitation stage after CI.

Mileshina N. , Osipenkov S. , Kurbatova E. , Dobryakova M.
The article presents information on the effectiveness of rehabilitation of patients with congenital malformations of the outer and middle ear, accompanied by conductive hearing loss. The most effective method worldwide in this category of patients is the use of bone anchored hearing aid. Modern technologies allow to chieve normalization of auditory function, regardless of the severity of anatomical disorders in each case. Children with congenital hearing disorders are of interest not only for otorhinolaryngologists and audiologists. Special teachers, speech therapists, and psychologists play an important role in their rehabilitation. In our opinion, it is important for non-medical specialists to receive feedback, including using questionnaires, in assessing the effectiveness of the work carried out. The GCBI questionnaire - one of the most common in the world for patients with otorhinolaryngological pathology – allows you to assess changes in the socio-pedagogical aspects of life against the background of a complex of rehabilitation measures.
