An interdisciplinary issue about how experimental research in the field of adaptive physical education is intensively developing, how a wide range of people with disabilities are affected and how ideas about physical development difficulties and methods of correctional care for children, adolescents and adults with disabilities are changing.

"Workarounds" and special tools physical fitness of basketball players with hearing impairment

The article presents the problem and model of physical training of qualified basketball players with impaired hearing, taking into account the peculiarities of their development, the need to rely on intact analyzers, the use of “workarounds” and special means. The use and role of a light metronome in the educational and training process of female basketball players with impaired hearing is described.

The article reveals the potential of adaptive physical education for activating cognitive processes and correcting their difficulties in children with mental retardation. The role of fitness aerobics is shown, the feasibility of including its elements and combinations in adaptive physical education classes for the development of attention, operational visual memory, flexibility and speed of mental operations in schoolchildren with mental retardation is substantiated.

The article shows the need to develop and clarify the Unified All-Russian Sports Classification for assigning sports categories and sports titles to persons with intellectual disabilities in game sports disciplines. The developed changes and clarifications are presented, the implementation of which has significantly increased the number of people with intellectual disabilities involved in adaptive sports.
