Almanac #23. Infantile Autism: Ways of Understanding and Assistance
We carry on publishing materials covering the features of development of children with autism spectrum disorders. The publication features articles dealing with adolescence and early adulthood. Difficulties of moving into adulthood at affective disorders (AD) are presented from the point of view of experts and based on memories of the people themselves, who survived and to the great extent coped with the difficulties described. Difficulties concurrently experienced by the family bringing up such an adolescent are shown.

Difficulties of the family bringing up an autistic adolescent

Nikolskaya O.S.
Difficulties of the family bringing up an adolescent with autism spectrum disorders are presented. The nearest and dearest of the child do experience stress even in trouble-free cases due to the significant divergence of the child's intellectual development and advances in socialization. When the child approaches adulthood, their family faces a period not less severe than in the initial diagnosing, and such a family is in need of psychological support.
